December 3, 2013, CALGARY, AB. (ISN) – The Western Hockey League announced today that Tristan Jarry of the Edmonton Oil Kings has been named the VAUGHN WHL Goaltender of the Month for November, 2013.

The 18-year-old netminder posted an impressive 7-1-0-0 record with two shutouts through eight appearances in November, allowing just 10 goals on 199 shots for a 1.25 goals-against average and a .950 save percentage in that span. Jarry started eight of the Oil Kings’ 10 games through the month of November, holding the opposition to two or fewer goals in all eight appearances and one or fewer goals in four of those eight starts. Jarry was selected among the Three Stars in four of his eight appearances, including being named the game’s 1st Star following a 37-save shutout performance in Vancouver versus the Giants on November 5th.

Jarry’s excellent play helped his Oil Kings post an 8-2-0-0 record through November, allowing them to climb to fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings. In addition to his outstanding work in the Oil Kings’ net, Jarry also suited up for Team WHL in the Subway Super Series, earning a victory in their series-clinching win over Russia in Lethbridge, AB, on November 28th.

Jarry, a product of Delta, B.C., is in his third season in the WHL with the Edmonton Oil Kings. He has appeared in 65 career regular-season games for the Oil Kings, posting a 42-16-1-1 record with nine shutouts, a 2.01 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage. The 6’2″, 180-lb netminder was chosen in the second round, 44th overall, by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2013 NHL Draft.

His accomplishments make Tristan Jarry a deserving choice as the VAUGHN WHL Goaltender of the Month for November.
