December 4, 2013 Victoria (ISN) – The University of Victoria Vikes men and women’s cross-country teams will once again head up their annual Christmas tree fundraiser at Centennial Stadium, Dec. 1-23, with proceeds from the sales benefitting UVic’s cross-country and track programs.
“The annual Christmas tree sales initiative has become an important fundraiser for our student-athletes,” said Vikes cross-country and track head coach Brent Fougner. “It not only supports our program costs, but also provides our community with an opportunity to purchase a locally grown Christmas tree.”
Trees will be available to purchase from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. everyday in advance of the holiday season. In its 15th year of existence, the fundraiser provides valuable support for athlete travel, equipment and scholarships. Each tree sold will be accompanied by a $10.00 gift card, redeemable at the Keg Steakhouse and Bar.
Trees will be available on the main concourse at Centennial Stadium, which can be accessed via McGill Rd. off McKenzie Ave. Following the Christmas break, tree recycling will also take place from Jan. 4-5, 9 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
