December 6, 2013 (ISN) – Mua Va’a, one of our longstanding members, is gathering donations for the Philippine typhoon victims. There will be a donations bin at Velox so that our rugby club can be a part of this effort.
If you have any clothing donations you would like to send to the Philippines they can be dropped off from Thursday December 5th up to Christmas. Any clothing/items left at Velox over the holidays will be donated as well. So if you have lost or left behind any items that you wish to hold on to please pick them up and take them home.
If you would like to make a financial donations we will be collecting them at the bar as well. For financial donations people can get a tax receipt, cheques can be made payable to Bayanihan Cultural and Housing Association with a note attaching indicating for the typhoon victims.
Jr Program Raffle
The U16’s have been running a raffle draw fundraiser, with a first prize of a $500 gift card at a BC Liquor Store (2nd prize: $200 prepaid Visa card, 3rd prize: $100 prepaid Visa card). Your last chance to support our juniors by buying some tickets will be at the Christmas Party, Saturday night at the club.
It’s unconfirmed, but it looks like Velox will finally have it’s new liquor licence next week, ending a too long period of uncertainty, stress, and no draft beer. Plan to come to Club Night next Thursday, to help us take that new licence out for a test drive! Hmmm. Poor choice of words. Don’t actually drink and drive.
