December 6, 2013, Saskatoon (ISN) – The team will be debuting their retro blue pacman jerseys tomorrow night at home against Regina. If you are interested in checking them out beforehand, feel free to drop by the office today. We won’t be doing anything formal, but just wanted to put that out there in case any of you were interested.

The Saskatoon Blades (10-19-1-2) are back on home ice to play host to the Regina Pats tonight.  The Blades are fresh off their US Division road trip, which they wrapped up on Wednesday night in Spokane.

Last Game Recap

The Saskatoon Blades closed out their US road trip with a 2-1 loss to the Spokane Chiefs on Wednesday night.  WHL leading scorer Mitch Holmberg did the offensive damage for the Chiefs, scoring a pair of shorthanded goals in the first period.  The Blades scored an early 2nd period goal with Brett Stovin netting his 8th of the year, with Matt Revel and Cory Millette drawing the assists.  Eric Williams was the other story in the game, as the Spokane goaltender was the first star, making 27 saves including a number of highlight reel stops.  The teams combined to go 0 for 9 with the man advantage in the game, with the Chiefs holding the shot advantage by a count of 39-28.

Season Series

Tonight’s game marks the first of two meetings between these teams within the next week.  It also marks the second meeting of the season between the Blades and Pats.  The first meeting was as follows:

October 6th – Blades 4 Pats 5 (SO) – Nathan Burns had 4 goals, Nikita Scherbak had 4 assists,  Troy Trombley had 27 saves

Valcourt Named November’s Top Player

Earlier this week Blades forward Collin Valcourt was named as the team’s November Player Of The Month.  Valcourt registered 4 goals and 12 points in 12 November games.  To go along with the point-per-game month, he added a +3 rating, 15 PIMs and three powerplay goals.  Valcourt’s biggest game of the month came on November 2nd, when he registered 2 goals, 2 assists and 2 PIMs in a Blades 7-6 loss in Swift Current.  To commemorate the achievement, Valcourt will be presented with a watch from Heinrichs Jewellery prior to tonight’s game.

Three Blades Make Central Scouting’s List

Three members of the Blades have been named to NHL Central Scouting’s “Player’s To Watch List” for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.  Nikita Scherbak leads the charge as an “A” skater.  Next on the list is Saskatoon-born defenceman Nelson Nogier as a “B” skater.  Rounding out the list for Saskatoon is goaltender Alex Moodie, who joins the list as a “C” skater.
