December 9, 2013, Nanaimo, BC (ISN) – Nanaimo certainly knows how to celebrate the season well! November and December are filled with themed house parties, festive office get-togethers and last minute dinner and dancing with friends. The 2013 Holiday Season is turning out to be one of the most festive in a few years.
This renewed holiday spirit creates an even greater demand for the services of Operation Red Nose. Greater demand for services requires more Operation Red Nose driving teams than in previous years. Rudy and the Operation Red Nose team are calling for reinforcements. It is a great way to give back to your community. Whether you bring your old friends out for an evening of fun or are looking for a new experience filled with new friends, Rudy can guarantee that you will make someone’s evening that much more merry and safe.
The Operation Red Nose Team has been committed to getting everyone who calls us a safe ride home for the past 17 years and this year is no different. The second weekend of the 2013 campaign delivered 89 vehicles and 204 people home safely. This was done by 41 amazing volunteers who drove over 2100kms in two nights.
“It was a busy, busy evening. We knew from previous years that our second weekend is busier than our first but the demand was even higher than we projected.” remarks Operation Red Nose Coordinator, Don Allan, “A few more driving teams on each evening would have made a world of a difference. It would have cut down on the waiting times and we would have been able get to many more people.”
Operation Red Nose is a confidential service that delivers drivers, their passengers and their vehicles home safely. There is no fee to use this service, however donations are greatly appreciated. The service is hosted by PacificSport Vancouver Island and is completely volunteer-based and operates Friday and Saturday evenings from 9:00 pm to 3:00 am. Operation Red Nose is greatly in need of more amazing team members and if you are interested in finding out how you can help to make your community a whole lot safer this holiday season please call Don at 250.740.6572 today.
