December 12, 2013, Saskatchewan (ISN) – Helping to prep for the tough second half of the Canada West men’s volleyball season, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies will host the EBWM Invitational beginning January 2.

Joining the Huskies at the annual tournament is Canada West foes the Brandon University Bobcats and the University of Regina Cougars, as well as Quebec’s Sherbrooke Vert et Or.

Although the No. 10 ranked Huskies enter the EBWM Invitational with just a 4-8 record this season, the squad has pushed fellow ranked teams to their limit in 2013-14. The Huskies have pushed the No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 ranked teams to five sets – losing in extra points in three of those matches in the final set.

Outside hitter and 2012-13 Canada West All-Star Bryan Fraser leads the Huskies with 134 kills on the season, followed by outside hitter Paul Thomson with 132. Middle blocker Tyler Epp sits fourth in the conference with a .410 hitting percentage, while fifth-year middle Braden McLean is fifth in blocks per set with 1.14.

Scores will be emailed each night but no statistics will be kept at the tournament.
