Curling playdowns will decide final Scotties contenders and regional men’s winners

December 13, 2013, Vancouver, BC (ISN) – The final line-up for the 2014 Scotties BC Women’s Curling Championship, Presented by Best Western, will be decided this weekend.

The remaining top competitive women’s teams from across the province will meet at the Golden Ears Winter Club in Maple Ridge this weekend to battle for the remaining two berths to the BC Scotties.

The two winning women’s teams will join the eight women’s teams that have already qualified for the championship event in Prince George January 6-12.

There are also four berths to the 2014 Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men’s Curling Championship, Presented by Automation One, up for grabs this weekend.

Playdowns on Vancouver Island and in the Okanagan will decide which regional winners will book a ticket to the championship at the Vancouver Curling Club, Feb. 5-9, 2014.

Eight teams have already secured a spot at the men’s championship, and an open playdown will be held in January to decide the final four berths.
