December 16, 2013, Vancouver, BC (ISN) – The final line-up for the 2014 Scotties BC Women’s Curling Championship, Presented by Best Western, has been decided.
Women’s teams met at the Golden Ears Winter Club this weekend to battle for the final two berths for the BC Scotties, which take place in Prince George from January 6-12, 2014.
The winners of the BC Scotties go on to represent BC at the national Scotties Tournament of Hearts Women’s Curling Championship in Montreal February 1-9, 2014.
The A event winner was Team Thompson, from the Kamloops Curling Club. Skip Karla Thompson (Kamloops), Third Kristen Recksiedler (Vancouver), Second Brooklyn Leitch (Kelowna) and Lead Michelle Ramsay (New Westminster) secured their berth at the open playdown after winning two in a row.
The B event winners were Team Jones, from the Prince George Golf and Curling Club, who will be able to play in front of a hometown crowd when the BC Scotties get under way. The team is skipped by Tracey Jones and rounded out by Third Falon Burkitt, Second Kay Thompson and Lead Melinda Kotsch.

A total of eight teams have already qualified for the BC Scotties, including defending champion and two-time national Scotties winner Kelly Scott. The other women to have qualified are Team MacInnes from Abbotsford, Team Knezevic from Prince George, as well as three teams from the Victoria Curling Centre – Team Wark, Team Van Osch and Team Jensen – and two teams from the Lower Mainland – Team Gibson from Vancouver and Team Mallett from Cloverdale.
