Hawks Happenings On The Ice:

  • The Winterhawks practice today at the Coliseum, then host the Everett Silvertips tomorrow at Veterans Memorial Coliseum before the players will leave town for the league’s annual Christmas break. Tomorrow’s game against the Silvertips will be a matchup between the top two teams in the U.S. Division, with Portland leading Everett by four points.
  • Paul Bittner recorded his second hat trick of the season in the Hawks’ 5-3 win over Seattle Saturday. With 19 points in 25 games, he’s nearly matched the total he put up last season as a 16-year-old rookie when he had 23 points in 45 games.
  • With three assists in the win over Seattle, center Chase De Leo has 38 points this season, tying him for 19th in the league. He’s one of five Hawks who rank among the league’s top-20 scorers: Nic Petan is second with 66 points, Oliver Bjorkstrand is fourth with 56 points, while Taylor Leier and Brendan Leipsic are tied for 11th with 43 points apiece.

Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:

  • After the Christmas break the Hawks come back with two big promotional games. First up will be Lift Ticket Night on Saturday, December 28 when the Hawks host the Tri-City Americans at the Coliseum. Presented by Jack in the Box, the first 8,000 fans will receive a free lift ticket to Mt. Hood Meadows. There will also be a Base Camp beer tasting event that night.

Following that game will be the annual Toyota New Year’s Eve game presented by Pacific Residential Mortgage on December 31. The game against Kelowna in the Moda Center will begin at 8 p.m., and afterwards the players will stay to skate with fans on the ice. Fans can bring their own skates to the game, or rent from Winterhawks Skating Center that day.
