December 15, 2013, Prince Albert (ISN) – The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Prince Albert Raiders 5-3 on Sunday in Prince Albert, extending its winning streak to 11 games and improving to 27-3-0-2 on the season with just a single game left before the team breaks for Christmas.
Playing its fifth game in six nights on its WHL Eastern road trip, the Rockets scored three times in the third period to erase a 3-2 Prince Albert lead.
Rookie Nick Merkley tied the game early in the third before Tyson Baillie scored the game winner, his 14th of the season.
Myles Bell added his 16th, Riley Stadel his 10th and Tyrell Goulbourne put home the insurance marker, into an empty net to seal the victory.
Jordon Cooke earned the win in net, especially in the first period when he stopped not one, but two penalty shots with Prince Albert holding a 2-1 lead earlier in the game.
The Rockets have a well-deserved day off on Monday before closing out the six game trip Tuesday night in Saskatoon.
Players will then travel home for Christmas before returning to Kelowna to host the Kamloops Blazers on Dec. 27.
