December 28, 2013, Kelowna (ISN) – The Kelowna Rockets extended its winning streak to 13 games on Friday night, returning from the Western Hockey League’s Christmas break to blast the Kamloops Blazers 7-1.
It was also the Rockets 22nd win in its last 23 games and improved the team’s record to a WHL-best 29-3-0-2 on the season.
Ryan Olsen had a pair of goals to lead the offensive attack for Kelowna, who jumped out of the gates quickly, scoring three times in the game’s first six minutes to take control of the game.
Carter Rigby, Zach Franko, Myles Bell, Cole Linaker and Rourke Chartier also scored while Colton Heffley and Kris Schmidli each chipped in with two assists.
The Rockets outshot Kamloops 39-21 in the game as Jordon Cooke earned the win in net, his 21st of the season.
It was the first sellout of the season at Prospera Place as 6,324 fans took in the game.
The Rockets now hit the road for four straight games beginning on Saturday in Vancouver. Kelowna will then play twice in Portland, on New Year’s Eve and on Jan. 2 before playing in Vancouver Jan. 3.
The Rockets return to Prospera Place Saturday Jan. 4 to play Vancouver.
