December 28, 2013, Calgary (ISN) – The Cariboo Cougars fell to 0-2 on Saturday at the Mac’s AAA Midget World Invitational in Calgary, dropping a 6-2 decision to the Red Deer Optimist Chiefs from Alberta.

Isaiah Berra scored both of the goals for the Cariboo squad, on the power play in the first and again with the man advantage in the second. Steven Jandric picked up assists on both goals, while Colton Thomas recorded a helper on the first tally.

The teams were tied 1-1 after one, but the Chiefs got the next two goals to open the second before Berra got one back. Red Deer led 5-2 after the second and added one more in the final frame.

Jeremy Matte 29 saves in a losing effort.

The Cougars continue the round robin on Sunday morning against B.C. Major Midget League rival Okanagan Rockets.
