“We just felt it was important to add some experience to our back end, and with Blake’s experience and his defensive game and physical compete, it will certainly be a good addition to what we already have within our defensive group,” said Oil Kings General Manager Randy Hansch.

Orban, a 6-foot-1, 199-pound blueliner, is in his third full season with the Giants and has four goals, 15 points, 75 penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating in 38 games this season. The Calgary native has nine goals and 34 points in 153 games in the WHL.

“Blake’s a play-hard, two-way defenceman that really concentrates on his defensive side,” Hansch said of the new addition. “With the way he plays the game, he’ll certainly fill a role with his maturity and his minutes.”

Orban is expected to join this Oil Kings this weekend.
