Dan Bodden

January 2, 2014 (ISN) – I am writing to inform you that a team of 5 runners will be relay-running 600km down Vancouver Island 16-21 Feb from Port Hardy to Victoria in support of Wounded Warrior Canada.

Wounded Warrior is a non-profit charity which supports Canadian veterans struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Our team of 5 runners will cover an average of 100km/day rain, snow or shine.

Our event will encourage participation in most Vancouver Island communities, from emergency services workers to veterans, to PTSD sufferers. We want to get folks talking and help remove the stigma attached to mental health issues both in public service and throughout society in general. Our message to everyone:

“If you’re struggling, talk to someone.”

We are hoping to have your community invloved in some way, be it a media stop, or just to meet and shake hands. We plan on running through Shelbyville 19 Feb and would like to involve the local community as appropriate, including support from Acme Rocket Boosters. I have attached both our campaign poster and website address. We are also on FaceBook.

I will be travelling the entire island for a promotional visit Mon Jan6th and Tues7th to meet with any/all who are interested in participating. I will also be soliciting respective Legions, Municipalities, businesses and other emergency service representatives. Please feel free to forward this to your membership or others as you see fit.

Thanks for your time, I look forward to meeting with you if convenient.
