Canada’s National Junior Team finishes fourth

January 5, 2014, MALMÖ, Sweden (ISN) – Canada’s National Junior Team has finished fourth at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship, falling to Russia 2-1 in Sunday’s bronze medal game at Malmö Arena.

Josh Morrissey (Calgary, Alta./Prince Albert, WHL) scored the lone goal for the Canadians, pulling Canada to within one seven minutes into the third period. Zachary Fucale (Rosemère, Que./Halifax, QMJHL) made 30 saves in the Canadian net.

Anthony Mantha (Longueuil, Que./Val-d’Or, QMJHL) finished as Canada’s top scorer at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship, recording 11 points (five goals, six assists) in seven games. Mantha was named a tournament all-star, the lone Canadian named to the media all-star team.
