January 10, 2014, SASKATOON, SK (ISN) – The Saskatoon Blades and general manager Lorne Molleken are extremely pleased to announce the acquisition of the rights to 1996-born forward Ty Mappin from the Everett Silvertips.
In exchange for the Big Valley, Alberta product, the Blades have sent a conditional 7th round selection in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft to Everett.
The 5’11, 170 pound centre is the former 7th overall selection from the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft. During his rookie WHL season in 2012-13, Mappin posted 5 goals, 17 points and 46 PIMs in 63 games for the Silvertips. This season Mappin has put up 3 goals, 16 points and 49 PIMs in 30 games with the Olds Grizzlys of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
“We’re excited to announce the acquisition of a player of Ty’s skillset,” said Blades general manager Lorne Molleken. “We feel that he’s got a lot to offer our organization as a young player. As we continue this rebuild, we’re always looking to get more skill into our lineup and he’s a player that fits that mold.”
The Saskatoon Blades would like to welcome Ty Mappin and his family to the organization.
