Paralympic hopefuls gather at Silver Star

January 16, 2014 (ISN) – BC Adaptive Snowsports brings 2010 Vancouver Paralympian Morgan Perrin & 2018 Pyeong Chang hopefuls to Silver Star Mountain Resort for Building Our Best Event.

Vernon, BC – On Thursday, January 16th, 2014, ski racers with disabilities from across BC and Alberta gather at Silver Star Mountain Resort for the first Building Our Best event of the 2014 Season.

Participants include four Canadian Para Alpine Ski Team (CPAST) Prospects who have their sights set on the 2018 Paralympic Games in Pyeong Chang. The event comprises of a two day training camp followed by two days of racing. The camp is led by BC Adaptive’s new Athlete Development Coach Morgan Perrin, BC Para Alpine Ski Team Assistant Coach Jason Fink and CPAST 2nd year Prospect Athlete Ben Thompson.

“We are excited to have Morgan Perrin on board this year to lead the program. We are confident that his experience will be very valuable to our up and coming athletes hoping to one day follow in his footsteps” says Fannie Smith, High Performance Manager at BC Adaptive Snowsports. BC Para Alpine Ski Team captain Ben Thompson now plays a more formal role instructing with this year’s camp by working with new sit-skiers looking to go further in Para Alpine Skiing.

The event marks the third time Silver Star Mountain Resort and the Vernon Ski Club have hosted a camp & race. “We are thrilled to be returning to Silver Star, their resort operation staff and the Vernon Ski Club volunteers work hard to help us deliver an action packed 4 days on the hill.” adds Fannie Smith.
