January 19, 2014 (ISN) – Vancouver Island Baseball Institute (VIBI) is very pleased to release the schedule for the 2014 season.

The complete 2014 season will see VIBI play a 46-game schedule, including 18 non-conference games against junior college (NWAACC) programs in Washington and Oregon, prior to a 28-game Canadian College Baseball Conference (CCBC) regular season.

Opening Day for the 2014 season is February 22nd, when VIBI travels to Mount Vernon, WA, for a four-game weekend series against Skagit Valley College. This will be the first of four trips to the USA’s Pacific Northwest for the team. The non-conference schedule also sees VIBI travel to Washington twice in March to visit Edmonds (March 1-2) as well as Everett Community College (March 15-16). A trip to Ontario, Oregon takes place March 8-10, with VIBI taking part in the Treasure Valley Classic hosted by Treasure Valley Community College.

The CCBC regular season begins on March 21 and 22 in Kelowna, BC, when VIBI plays the Prairie Baseball Academy and Thompson Rivers University twice each in a four-game weekend series.

The home portion of the 2014 schedule opens on March 29-30 as Thompson Rivers comes to Nanaimo for a four game weekend series. That series will begin a 12-game homestand for VIBI, as they will take up residence at Serauxmen Stadium for three consecutive weeks. On April 5-6, they welcome the University of Calgary for four, and Okanagan College visits on April 12-13.

All home games at Serauxmen Stadium are played as doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The team is preparing a revamped game day presentation, and game day promotions for fans this season. Details will be released closer to the beginning of the season.

The 2014 regular season will conclude with three road weekends, two in Kelowna on April 19-20 and May 3-4, on either end of a trip to Lethbridge, AB, for a four game series with the Prairie Baseball Academy.
