BCRU to play Canada in 125th Club Anniversary

January 30, 2014, VANCOUVER, BC (ISN) – The British Columbia Rugby Union will be celebrating its 125th Anniversary this year and the festivities will kick off on May 31st with a senior men’s fixture between British Columbia and Canada Selects.

The match will be hosted in Vancouver by BC Rugby as part of the celebrations and will also serve as a final tune up for Rugby Canada heading into the Summer International Test window. Canada will be facing Japan at Burnaby’s Swangard Stadium the following weekend on June 7th before taking on Scotland in Toronto’s BMO Field on June 14th.

BC Rugby will plan on holding a number of festivities with a highlight senior women’s fixture to be announced along with jamboree format events to further engage our community in this important milestone.

BC Rugby is also asking you to Save-The-Date for our official 125th Anniversary Gala Dinner on Saturday, September 13th at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver.

In recognition of our 125th, BC Rugby has also launched the new special edition anniversary shield. The new crest will be worn on all provincial team jerseys competing at national championships during the 2014 calendar year.
