January 29, 2014, Kelowna (ISN) – The Spokane Chiefs came from behind to defeat the Kelowna Rockets 6-5 in a shootout on Wednesday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, ending the Rockets nine game home winning streak in the process.

The Chiefs scored three times in the third period to force overtime and after a scoreless overtime and six rounds of the shootout, the Chiefs Jason Fram ended the game with a top corner shot, the only player to score in the extended shootout.

Spokane led 2-1 after the first period before Kelowna came out strong in the second, scoring four times to take a 5-2 lead after two periods. The third period however belonged to the Chiefs as they scored three of their own to tie the game.

Ryan Olsen and Damon Severson each had a goal and two assists to lead the Kelowna offense. Colton Heffley, Kris Schmidli and Rourke Chartier also scored for the Rockets while Jordon Cooke took the loss in net.

The Rockets earned a point for a shootout loss and their record now sits at a WHL-best 40-7-0-3 on the season.

Kelowna now heads into a weekend double-header with the Kamloops Blazers as the two teams will play in Kamloops on Friday before coming back to Prospera Place on Saturday night.
