February 1, 2014, SEATTLE (ISN) – The Trinity Western middle distance runners continued to rack up the accolades as the Spartans Levi Neufeld (Winnipeg) and Declan White (South Surrey, B.C.) both broke school records at the University of Washington Invitational at Dempsey Indoor Saturday while Sarah Inglis (Falkirk, Scotland) had a performance in the mile race that will see her move to the top of the CIS 1500m rankings.

Neufeld clocked a personal best time of 4:12.14 in the mile to finish seventh and, when converted, is a new TWU 1500m record of 3:53.69. The previous record holder was Chris Voth who posted a time of 3:58.88 at last year’s Canada West championships.

Meanwhile, in the 3000m invitational race, White finished 16th overall with a time of 8:18.06, bettering his own previous school record of 8:19.82, which he posted Jan. 18 at Dempsey Indoor.

In the women’s mile invitational, Inglis finished fifth overall with a time of 4:46.31 which, when converted to a 1500m time, will put her atop the national rankings with a time of 4:25.03. Along with Fiona Benson (Dawson Creek, B.C.), who ran 4:27.54 earlier this year, the Spartans will be first and second in the women’s 1500m rankings.

In the same mile invitational, TWU Alison Jackson (Vermilion, Alta.) finished 17th in 4:52.46. Earlier in the day, Regan Yee (South Hazelton, B.C.) finished second in the other mile race in a time of 4:52.46.
