February 3, 2014, Oakville, ON (ISN) – Registration for the 2014 PGA TOUR Canada Qualifying Tournament in Florida, California and British Columbia has received entries to fill the 132-player fields at each venue. Applications are still being accepted for players to be alternates in the competition.
The three separate tournaments will take place at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, Calif., April 7-11, the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at Reunion Resort and Club in Kissimmee, Fla., April 14-18 and Crown Isle Resort and Golf Community in Courtenay, British Columbia, May 5-9. Each tournament will see 18 players earn exempt status for 2014, with the rest of the top 40 plus ties earning conditional status.
“The interest from players in qualifying for PGA TOUR Canada’s second season has been tremendous, and we’re pleased to see that all three sites filled out so quickly,” said PGA TOUR Canada President Jeff Monday. “This ensures that all three sites will be extremely competitive, and we look forward to seeing the next generation of PGA TOUR Canada players get their start here.”
The list of players set to compete includes former Players Cup champion Chris Killmer, NEC Series – PGA TOUR Latinoamérica winners Julian Etulain and Alan Wagner, former U.S. Junior Amateur champion Phil Francis and Chinese amateur star Andy Zhang, who in 2012 became the youngest player ever to play in the U.S. Open at age 14.
PGA TOUR Canada’s second season will begin the week of May 26-June 1 at the PC Financial Open at Point Grey Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, British Columbia.
