The third race in the Frontrunners Island Race Series – Cedar 12K

February 4, 2014, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The third race in the Frontrunners Island Race Series – Cedar 12K – takes place on Sunday, February 9th at 11 am. The race starts and finishes at Cedar Intermediate Secondary School, 2215 Gould Road, Nanaimo. Cedar 12K is hosted by the Bastion Running Club.

Runners can register online until midnight, Wednesday February 5th at www.vira.bc.ca, or on race day. Race registration until February 5th is $25 for adults and $20 for students. Race day fees are $35 and $30 for students.

“With over 450 registered so far for the race, we are looking for a strong field,” says Race Director John Durkin. “If the weather holds out for us we could have perfect conditions and some fast times.”

In the club standings the Prairie Inn Harriers lead with 1071 points followed by Bastion Running Club with 593 and Comox Valley Road Runners with 533.

Eight races make up the Frontrunners Island Race Series. Cedar 12K will be followed by Hatley Castle 8K on February 23, Synergy Health Management Ltd Bazan Bay 5K on March 9, Comox Valley RV Half Marathon on March 23, Merville 15K on April 6, and Sooke River 10K on April 13. Synergy Health Management Ltd Bazan Bay 5K and the Comox Valley RV Half Marathon are part of the Timex BC Series. All races are sanctioned by BC Athletics.
