Martin St-Louis added to Canada’s Roster for 2014 Olympic Winter Games; Steven Stamkos unable to participate

February 6, 2014, SOCHI, Russia (ISN) – Hockey Canada announced Thursday that forward Martin St-Louis (Laval, Que./Tampa Bay, NHL) has been added to Canada’s National Men’s Team roster for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

Hockey Canada was informed Wednesday by the Tampa Bay Lightning that Steven Stamkos (Unionville, Ont./Tampa Bay, NHL) has not been cleared for game participation and will not represent Canada due to injury.

With the addition of St-Louis, Canada’s roster includes 25 players, including three goaltenders, eight defencemen and 14 forwards.

The men’s Olympic hockey tournament begins Wednesday, Feb. 12, with Canada’s first game on Thursday, February 13 against Norway. The tournament culminates with the gold medal game on February 23. In the Olympic preliminary round, Canada also faces off against Austria on Friday, February 14 and Finland on Sunday, February 16. All of these games take place at the Bolshoy Ice Dome in Sochi.
