February 8, 2014 (ISN) – The All Blacks Sevens have beaten closest rivals South Africa 21-0 in the Cup final of their home Wellington Sevens to reclaim the lead at the top of the HSBC Sevens World Series.
Sherwin Stowers (2) and Tim Mikkelson scored the tries in the final as Gordon Tietjens’ side conceded just 12 points in six matches en route to victory.
In the third place play-off Fiji ensured they collected 17 Series points from round five by beating England 14-7.
Australia came from 10-0 behind to beat Canada 12-10 and take the Plate and 13 valubale Series points. Kenya beat Scotland to lift the Bowl and USA claimed a second successive Shield with victory over Spain.
New Zealand’s victory takes them to 99 points overall in the HSBC Sevens World Series, just two clear of South Africa (97) but 26 clear of Fiji (73) in third.
Pool draw made for round 6 in Tokyo
The IRB has confirmed the pool draw for round 6 of the HSBC Sevens World Series in Japan’s capital Tokyo on 22-23 March 2014.
