Toronto and Montreal Host Committees unveiled for 2015 IIHF world Junior Championship

February 11, 2014, TORONTO, Ont./MONTREAL, Que. (ISN) – Hockey Canada announced Tuesday the members of the host committees in Toronto and Montreal for the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship, scheduled for December 26, 2014 to January 5, 2015 in Canada’s two largest cities.

The host committee members will work with executive director Pat McEleney, general managers Darryl Boynton (Toronto) and Marie-Christine Boucher (Montreal), and their respective teams in each city.

TORONTO HOST COMMITTEE

  • Venue Operations – Duncan Stauth (Oshawa Generals)
  • Logistics – Bob Singleton
  • Media – Pat Park (Toronto Maple Leafs)
  • Hospitality and Protocol – Scott Simmons (Golf Canada)
  • Volunteers – Sam Ciccolini (Masters Insurance)
  • Special Events – Elliott Kerr (Mississauga Steelheads)
  • Hockey Development – Tony Foresi (Ontario Hockey Federation)

MONTREAL HOST COMMITTEE

  • Venue Operations – Patrick Boivin (Concordia University)
  • Logistics – Yves Archambault (Hockey Quebec)
  • Media – Paul Wilson (National Public Relations)
  • Hospitality and Protocol – René Marcil (past chair, Hockey Canada) and Véronique Poulin (Montreal Canadiens)
  • Volunteers – Sacha Vaillancourt (BFL CANADA)
  • Special Events – Marc Verret (Heineken Canada)
  • Hockey Development – Paul Ménard (Hockey Quebec)

“This is a tremendous group with countless years of experience, and we could not be more pleased that these individuals have agreed to volunteer their time and be a part of the host committees in Toronto and Montreal,” said McEleney. “It’s exciting for us to look ahead at the coming months, and we can’t wait to get to work.”

The next step is to start recruitment of volunteers for the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship, which will begin in early March. It’s expected that more than 1,500 volunteers will be needed for the event.

TICKET UPDATE

With less than 11 months to go until the first puck drops on December 26, ticket packages are still available at www.hockeycanada.ca/2015juniors. Montreal will host one pre-competition game featuring Canada’s National Junior Team, as well as Canada’s preliminary round group as part of a 12-game package. Group A in Montreal includes Canada, defending gold medallist Finland, Germany, Slovakia and the United States. Ticket packages range in price from $431 to $1,566 for the event. Fans will see Canada play five games in Montreal.

Inventory in Toronto is extremely limited, with only a small amount of packages still remaining. Toronto will host one pre-competition game featuring Canada’s National Junior Team, as well as Group B of preliminary round play and the full medal round, including the gold medal game.
