February 13, 2014, VICTORIA, B.C. (ISN) – The Victoria HarbourCats are pleased to announce that major logistics partnerships have been set in place for the 2014 season. The premium was on stability and continuity for the team as it heads into its second year in the West Coast League.
“It is important to our ownership and to our overall operation to build long-term relationships that are win-win for everyone involved,” said Jim Swanson, General Manager.
“Working with local companies is important in our business operations. So many strong relationships were started in 2013, building a great base for baseball to thrive here for years to come. There are aspects of running a sports franchise that require stability in order for the foundation to be in place for success, on and off the field. These are key areas, priorities, for us in moving forward, and the importance of these relationships cannot be overstated.
“These are people who are committed to their community, who understand partnerships and their value, and stepped up with the HarbourCats in our first season. They wanted a signature baseball team back in Victoria, and helped make that happen.”
The HarbourCats are pleased to renew a bus arrangement with WILSON’S TRANSPORTATION, to provide motor coach travel to road games. “John Wilson and his team are professionals in every sense of the word, and their commitment to sports in this region deserves a standing ovation,” said Swanson.
The HarbourCats players and staff will be using PISE’s world-class facility, located at the Camosun-Interurban campus, for off-field training, utilizing the weight room, cardio equipment, therapy rooms, and all other available areas. “This is an important part of our program, providing our players an excellent location to improve their strength and conditioning and advance their performance,” said Swanson.
When visiting teams come to Victoria, they will again be staying at the Accent Inn on Blanshard – an outstanding hotel within close proximity to Royal Athletic Park, not to mention restaurants, shopping and other services. “Accent Inn stepped forward to work with the HarbourCats in the first year, and we are glad to have developed a great relationship with them,” said Swanson.
Kirby’s Source For Sports will be used to outfit the team with most of the on-field equipment needed to play the 2014 West Coast League season, as was the case in 2013.
The HarbourCats are once again pleased to offer Spinnaker’s Beer at Royal Athletic Park, a local favourite that was a big hit for the 2013 season. The HarbourCats were pleased to hold their first player announcements for the 2014 season at Spinnaker’s, an event held in December.
SOFT DRINK PROVIDER
Coca-Cola has re-signed with the HarbourCats to provide their signature products at Royal Athletic Park for 2014, sold through the many concession options during games.
“These are all big steps to making 2014 an even better season,” said Swanson. “Our staff are working hard on other major announcements we hope will be well-received by our fans. It’s a lot of fun, but a lot of hard work, to prepare for the season, on and off the field. Everyone seems excited to get that first look at the new bucket seats in place at RAP, and to see our roster coming together. We look forward to announcing more players later this month.”
