Happy Flag Day in Canada, eh. #flagday

545

February 15, 1965 – the day our national flag became emblazoned with the red Maple Leaf, replacing the Canadian Red Ensign, which had been in use as a Canadian national flag since 1868. Over the past seven years, the Canadian flag has appeared in my paintings seven times, with three paintings using the compositional elements of the Canadian flag.

In celebration of flag day, here are those three paintings. Oh Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
