February 25, 2014, Victoria (ISN) – Hatley Castle 8K has been re-scheduled to run on Sunday, March 2nd at 11 am. The fourth race in the Frontrunners Island Race Series was cancelled last Sunday due to the adverse weather.
The race starts and finishes at Royal Roads Gymnasium, 2005 Sooke Rd, Victoria and is hosted by Frontrunners Athletic Club.
Runners can register online until midnight, Thursday, February 27 at www.vira.bc.ca or on race day. Race registration until February 27 is $25 for adults and $20 for students. Race day fees are $35 and $30 for students.
“We are thrilled that we were able to re-schedule the race,” says Race Director, Nick Walker. “We would like to thank Royal Roads University, the community and volunteers, whose support has enabled us to put the race back on. We realize that this date may not work for everyone, but appreciate all the support from everyone involved.”
In the club standings the Prairie Inn Harriers lead with 1393 points followed by Bastion Running Club with 989 and Comox Valley Road Runners with 819.
Eight races make up the Frontrunners Island Race Series. Hatley Castle 8K is followed by Synergy Health Management Ltd Bazan Bay 5K on March 9, Comox Valley RV Half Marathon on March 23, Merville 15K on April 6, and Sooke River 10K on April 13. Synergy Health Management Ltd Bazan Bay 5K and the Comox Valley RV Half Marathon are part of the Timex BC Series. All races are sanctioned by BC Athletics.
