Lamar named Canada West All-Star

February 26, 2014 (ISN) – University of Saskatchewan Huskie men’s basketball guard Stephon Lamar was honoured by the Canada West Friday by being named an all-star.

Lamar, a fourth-year San Diego, Calif., native was named a Canada West First Team All-Star. It is the second straight season Lamar has been recognized as a first-teamer. In 2012-13, Lamar was also named a First-Team All-Canadian and Canada West MVP.

The Arts & Science student finished the season third in Canada West scoring at 19 points per game, while shooting 43 percent. Lamar averaged 3.5 rebounds to go along with 117 assists and 27 steals in 22 games.

The Huskies defeated the Thompson Rivers WolfPack 2-0 in a Canada West Quarter-final series to advance to the conference Final Four. The Huskies face the Alberta Golden Bears Friday night at 8 p.m. in the semifinal.
