March 3, 2014, San Marcos, Calif (ISN) – The University of Victoria Vikes women’s team shot 32-over-par 320 in the first round of the Lady Cougar Invitational at St. Mark Golf Club, with Vikes captain Brynn Tomie leading all individuals at 2-over-par following Sunday’s action.

The tournament will conclude with a final round at 8:00 a.m., March 3.

Joining Tomie in the top-10 after Sunday’s round was teammate Michaela Abey in eighth-place with a round one, 82 score. Vikes Emily Nicol, Laura Ferreria and Shannon Raina placed 11th, 16th and 16th, respectively.

The 5,824-yard, par-72 track played longer than the scorecard indicated due to the wet, rainy conditions. Despite the downpours, the players were able to complete the round without a delay.

It is a close race at the top of the leaderboard, as Occidental (326, +38) and Grand View (329, +41) sit back six shots and nine shots, respectively.

The final round of the Lady Cougar Invitational at St. Mark Golf Club commences with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
