March 4, 2014, OTTAWA (ISN) – With only a few days to go before the start of the CIS indoor track and field championships, the Calgary Dinos are still considered the team to beat on the women’s side, while the York Lions and Guelph Gryphons remain co-favourites for the men’s competition.

The CIS meet runs from Thursday to Saturday at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. The Calgary women and Guelph men are the defending team champions from 2013.

Rounding out the women’s Top 10 heading into this week’s championships are No. 2 Guelph, No. 3 Trinity Western, No. 4 Saskatchewan, No. 5 Toronto, No. 6 Western, No. 7 York, No. 8 Victoria, No. 9 Windsor and No. 10 Queen’s.

Following the co-leaders in the men’s rankings are No. 3 Sherbrooke, No. 4 Windsor, No. 5 Regina, No. 6 Victoria, No. 7 Toronto, No. 8 Trinity Western, No. 9 Western and No. 10 Laval.

In the only other CIS Top 10 released on Tuesday, the Alberta Golden Bears were a unanimous choice for No. 1 in men’s hockey. The reigning national champion UNB Varsity Reds drop all the way to seventh place after being upset by Saint Mary’s in the AUS semifinals.
