March 13, 2014 (ISN) – The Alberta Soccer Association’s Servus Credit Union Youth Indoor Provincial Championships are set to kick off on Friday March 14 and run through to Sunday March 16 when provincial champions will be crowned across the province.
The competition will be spread out through nine centres in Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Red Deer and St. Albert. These championships are Alberta’s premier amateur indoor youth soccer competition.
Over 4,900 soccer players that make up 244 teams from across the province will convene to decide this year’s provincial champions in 31 separate competitions. Male and female teams qualify from all over the province in four different age categories including U-12, U-14, U-16, and U-18 and in four different tiers (I to IV). The competition also attracts top soccer coaches throughout the province, scouts and spectators who want to take in the highest quality of soccer at the youth level.
“These Championships continue to grow every year and demonstrate the increasing quality of play we see year round from Alberta soccer players. The success of past Alberta players can often be tracked to their success at these Championships”, remarked Alberta Soccer Association President, Ole Jacobsen. “Our goal for this competition is to provide a memorable experience for players, coaches and parents alike on their pathway to achieving individual and team success. We encourage soccer fans to come out and watch some of the best youth soccer players this province has to offer.”
