PotashCorp University Cup presented by Co-op: New attendance record set at CIS men’s hockey championship


SASKATOON (CIS) – The 2014 PotashCorp University Cuppresented by Co-op drew a seven-game total of 41,089 fans at CreditUnion Centre in Saskatoon, setting a new attendance record for theCIS men’s hockey championship.

The previous tournament mark – also over seven matches -had held since 2000 when 40,956 spectators turned up atSaskatchewan Place, which has since been renamed Credit UnionCentre.

In the 52-year history of the University Cup tourney, the fivemost attended championships have all been held in Saskatoon,including in 2014 (41,089), 2000 (40,956), 2013 (38,347), 1999(37,184) and 1998 (37,121).

The 2014 PotashCorp University Cup presented by Co-op is hostedby the University of Saskatchewan. The Alberta Golden Bears andSaskatchewan Huskies face off in today’s gold-medal final, infront of a crowd of 6,289.
