B-Mets ruffle Cardinals in Florida, 6-1

March 27, 2014, JUPITER, FL (ISN) – Darrell Ceciliani drove in three runs and Rainy Lara tossed six strong innings to lead the Binghamton Mets past the Springfield Cardinals, 6-1, Thursday afternoon at the St. Louis Cardinals Spring Training complex.

Ceciliani, a member of the 2013 B-Mets, collected three RBI on a double and a single. The Madras, Oregon native hit .268 and collected a team-high 31 stolen bases in the Southern Tier last year. Jayce Boyd jumpstarted Binghamton’s offense with a two-run double in the first inning. Boyd amassed a .330 batting average and 83 RBI between Savannah (Low-A) and St. Lucie (High-A) in 2013.

On the hill, Lara tamed the Cardinals over frames to earn the victory. The right-hander from Bani, Dominican Republic surrendered just one run on three hits and collected three strikeouts. He went 8-7 with a 2.85 ERA between Savannah and St. Lucie last year.

The B-Mets conclude their spring schedule at home against the Jacksonville Suns (Miami Marlins) Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM.

The Binghamton Mets spring training schedule consists of twelve games stretching from March 14 to March 28. Players that see action in these spring games are not guaranteed to be on the Binghamton Mets Opening Day roster on April 3rd.
