April 1, 2014, CALGARY, AB. (ISN) – The Western Hockey League announced today that Jordon Cooke of the Kelowna Rockets has been named the VAUGHN WHL Goaltender of the Month for March, 2014. It is the second time this season that Cooke has been named VAUGHN WHL Goaltender of the Month, having earned the honor for September/October as well.

A 20-year-old from Leduc, AB, Cooke appeared in six regular-season games during the month of March, posting a 4-1-0-0 record with one shutout while allowing just eight goals on 162 shots for a 1.50 goals-against average and a .951 save percentage in that span. Cooke held his opposition to one or fewer goals in four of his six appearances in March, including posting a shutout win over the Tri-City Americans on March 8th. The 5’10”, 177-lb netminder was selected among the 3 Stars in three of the six games he played, earning one 1st Star, one 2nd Star and one 3rd Star selection.

Cooke’s strong play in March helped the Rockets capture the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy as the WHL’s top regular-season Club for the first time since the 2003-04 campaign while also helping Kelowna set new franchise records for wins and points in a single season.

Cooke, a product of Leduc, AB, is currently in his fourth and final WHL season with the Rockets, having posted a 92-34-4-8 record, including nine shutouts, along with a 2.54 GAA and a .915 save percentage over 149 career regular-season games. He was selected by the Rockets in the fourth round, 79th overall, in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft.

His accomplishments make Jordon Cooke a deserving choice as the VAUGHN WHL Goaltender of the Month for March.
