2014 AUS fall sports schedules released

HALIFAX, N.S. – Atlantic University Sport released the 2014 fallsports schedules today, including women’s rugby, men’sand women’s soccer and men’s and women’s crosscountry. Hosts for the fall Subway AUS championships were alsoconfirmed.

In women’s rugby, last year’s AUS finalists, theStFX X-Women and Acadia Axewomen will open the season with awaygames.

The defending champion X-Women will visit the SaintMary’s Huskies for their home opener Saturday, Sept. 6 at 2p.m. while the Axewomen will visit the UPEI Panthers that same day,also at 2 p.m.

StFX and Acadia will play their own home openers the followingweekend when Acadia hosts Saint Mary’s and StFX hosts UPEISunday, Sept. 14 at 2 p.m.

The rival X-Women and Axewomen will face off in Week 3 in arematch of last season’s championship game Saturday, Sept. 20at 7 p.m.

The 2014 Subway AUS women’s rugby championship will behosted by Acadia University Oct. 25-26. The AUS champion willtravel to the University of Guelph Oct. 30-Nov. 1 to compete in the2014 CIS women’s rugby championship.

All ten AUS men’s and women’s soccer teams will seeaction on opening weekend Sept. 5-7.

The defending champion Cape Breton Capers women’s teamwill host the Saint Mary’s Huskies in their home and seasonopener Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. The reigning men’s soccerchampion UNB Varsity Reds will open their season with two games atMemorial in Week 1. They will host the Cape Breton Capers in theirhome opener in Week 2, Saturday, Sept. 13 at 3:15 p.m.

This season’s Subway AUS men’s and women’ssoccer championships will be hosted Oct. 31-Nov. 2 by Memorial andDalhousie University, respectively. The University of Prince EdwardIsland will host the CIS men’s soccer championship thefollowing weekend, Nov. 6-9, while the CIS women’s soccerchampionship will be hosted by Laval.

The men’s and women’s cross country teams will openup their season with an invitational meet Saturday, Sept. 13 hostedby Acadia in Wolfville, NS. UNB and St. Thomas will play jointhosts to the second meet a week later, while Moncton will host thethird invitational meet Saturday, Oct. 4.

StFX will host the final invitational meet this season onSaturday, Oct. 11. Saint Mary’s will play host this season tothe 2014 Subway AUS cross country championship Oct. 25 inHalifax.

Memorial University will host the 2014 CIS cross countrychampionships.
