April 10, 2014, Victoria (ISN) – The Victoria Shamrocks, defending Western Lacrosse Association champions, are excited to announce that they will be launching their inaugural day camp for minor lacrosse players in July 2014.
The camp will be held at the home of the Shamrocks, 100.3 The Q Centre at 1767 Old Island Highway from July 7th through July 10th.
Featured Camp instructors include Shamrocks offense players Rhys Duch, Corey Small, defender Dan MacRae, and transition player Karsen Leung. The balance of coaching staff will be announced in June, which will include more members from the 2014 Shamrock roster.
This unique instructional camp will focus on player development, individual skills, team skills, and game play. The 4-day day camp will run from 9am to 3pm each day, and will be open to minor lacrosse players in the Tyke, Novice, Pee Wee, and Bantam age groups. Registration will be limited to 40 players in each group.
“We’re excited to launch this camp as part of our plan to reach out to the growing minor lacrosse community in Greater Victoria,” said Shamrocks Executive Director Paul German. “The Shamrocks have a long tradition in Victoria, and this is a great way for our players to give back to the system that got them started in lacrosse when they were younger.”
Campers are guaranteed to receive a minimum of 10 hours of practice and instruction on the Q Arena Floor, leading up to inter-squad scrimmages on final day of camp; as well as training to promote field agility and community center activities.
Camp Cost & Registration details will be distributed within the next two weeks to all Greater Victoria minor lacrosse associations, and announced on victoriashamrocks.com
