April 16, 2014, Victoria, BC (ISN) – Registration for summer programs at PISE (Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence) is now open.
There are new programs and favourite classes returning for the summer session which runs from May – August 2014. Many programs start the week of May 5 at PISE with sample classes offered from April 28. Registration is also open for summer camps. PISE is located on the Interurban Camosun College campus at 4371 Interurban Road, Victoria.
New this summer is Stack the Deck – a full body workout incorporating high energy burst of intense cardio work with resistance training. Returning is PISE HIIT, offered evenings and lunch times. The High Intensity Interval Training workout combines short bursts of intense aerobic exercise with less intense recovery periods.
Also returning is CoreFit, a program designed to target and strengthen the muscle groups that support the core; Raise the Bar, that teaches Olympic Lifting for beginners and advanced; Superfit – an advanced workout designed to boost your metabolism through strength and aerobic conditioning; and Bootcamp – a progressive program that uses a variety of equipment to increase strength and aerobic capacity. PISE also continues to offer adapted programs – Adapted Strength & Conditioning, Adapted HIIT and Wheelchair Basketball are all back for the summer.
SummerFit and SummerFit Advanced has a new design for those who find it challenging to fit in exercise during the summer. SummerFit programs can be booked by weeks enabling you to work around vacation time. SummerFit offers a variety of settings – indoors and outdoors in the field and the TNT Zone.
It’s time to register for summer camps and PISE has a range of camps on offer. Sport camps are delivered through Saanich Recreation and Victoria West Community Centre as well as at PISE. New this year is a Wheelchair Sports camp for all abilities. Kids can learn wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby or sitting volleyball as well as exploring regular camp games.
