MAY 1, 2014 – The finest Canadian university and college golfers are set to compete against each other for a National Championship.
The Canadian University/College Championship will be held June 3-6 in Winnipeg at the Southwood Golf & Country Club. The annual event has been hosted by Golf Canada since 2003.
Registration for this year’s Team Event has passed, however the deadline for individual applications for the tournament is Wednesday, May 7 at 5 p.m.
Last year, at the Club de Golf Val des Lacs in Ste-Sophie, QC, the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds (men) and the Universite de Montreal Carabins (women) were crowned champions in the four-day event.
Ugo Coussaud (Universite Laval Rouge et Or) captured the men’s title with a 4-under 280 (66-69-73-72). Sabrina Sapone (Montreal) was the women’s champion with a 9-over 293 (74-74-71-74).
The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association’s Humber Hawks (4th) and Holland Hurricanes (8th) cracked the Top 10 in the men’s team event. Eric Locke of the Hurricanes placed 5th in the men’s individual competition.
This year, the CCAA’s Humber College Hawks and Grant MacEwan University Griffins will participate in the men’s team event. The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades will compete in both the men’s and women’s team events.
The CCAA is a national sport organization that enriches the lives of student-athletes through intercollegiate competition.
