May 1, 2014, Nanaimo (ISN) – There is less than 100 days until the ball drops for the 2014 World’s Longest Outdoor Hockey Game!
The Youth Sticking Together committee is excited to bring on board long time Nanaimo resident, current City Councilor and former long time Nanaimo Clippers Head Coach/General Manager Bill Bestwick on as Honorary Chairman for the 2014 World’s Longest Outdoor Hockey Game!
“We couldn’t think of anyone more highly respected in this community. The passion he has for hockey and his commitment to the youth of Nanaimo is unparalleled,” stated Tali Campbell, Event Organizer.
“The committee, volunteers and players are all thrilled to have Bill Bestwick help out with this event,” Tali Campbell said “Bill has been at the past two events as a supporter and helping motivate the players to continue.”
“It is truly an honor to be part of this outstanding group of young people and volunteers. They are dedicated to the efforts of the entire Youth Sticking Together initiative,” Bestwick stated. He added, “I am confident the organizers and participants will make the event memorable and successful for everyone.”
Bestwick went onto say that, “Events like this in our community make you proud to live here.”
The event takes place from August 9th to the 12th at the Nanaimo Lacrosse Box next to the Nanaimo Curling Centre; lots of family fun events planned during the hockey game.
