May 9, 2014, SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (ISN) – Riley McCormick of Victoria missed a berth in the men’s three-metre final on Friday by 1.35 points at the fourth stop on the FINA Grand Prix diving circuit.

McCormick, a two-time Olympian, earned 398.05 points for fourth place in his semifinal heat.  Alejandro Arias of Colombia grabbed the third and final spot for the final at 399.40.  The top-three in each of the two semis advanced to Sunday’s final.

McCormick, who switched from 10-m to three-metre after the 2012 Olympics, had ranked second in the preliminaries with 390.75 points.  Cody Yano of Edmonton was 18th.

On women’s 10-metre tower, Celina Toth of Victoria was 15th in the prelims.

Competition continues Saturday.  Maxim Bouchard of St. Constant, Que., competes in the men’s 10-m final and Hailey Casper of Calgary in the women’s three-metre final.
