May 14, 2014, Kamloops, BC (ISN) – The Kamloops Blazers announced this morning that they have signed 15-year-old defenseman Nolan Kneen, who was selected by the Blazers third overall in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft held on May 1st.

Kneen is a North Vancouver native who played this season with the North Shore Winter Club Winterhawks Bantam AAA team.

The 6’0” and 165lb defenseman had a solid year with 22 goals and 60 points in 69 games this past season. Kneen is expected to suit up with the defending B.C. Major Midget League Champion Okanagan Rockets this upcoming season. 

“Nolan was the top defenseman available this past draft, and we are ecstatic that he has committed to our program,” commented General Manager, Craig Bonner.  “We are proud to welcome Nolan and his family to the Kamloops Blazers organization, and we look forward to watching his progress over the next year.”

Kneen was an assistant captain with the Winterhawks this season and helped the team win the Western Canadian Bantam Championship title scoring the game winning goal in double overtime over the Lloydminster Heat.
