May 16 2014 ISN – Montreal, May 16, 2014 – One day after reaching his fourth Masters 1000
quarter-final of the 2014, Milos Raonic (Thornhill, ON) advanced to his first
semifinal of the season on Friday at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome thanks
to a 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 win over Frenchman Jérémy Chardy, who upset Roger Federer in the
second round.

Raonic had won his four previous meetings aganist Chardy, including a 6-3, 6-3
victory last week in Madrid. The world no. 10 led by a set and a break at 6-3, 4-3
before losing his serve for the first time in the tournament. Chardy broke again at
6-5 to force a third set. Raonic regrouped quickly and domimated his opponent in the
final frame to come away with the win.

Raonic will play the second Masters 1000 semifinal of his career on Saturday. His
first came at home at the 2013 Rogers Cup in Montreal where he reached the final.
The 23-year-old Canadian awaits the winner of the quarter-final encounter between
Novak Djokovic of Serbia and Spaniard David Ferrer.
