May 20 2014 ISN – Prince Albert SK- Leon Draisaitl saved his best for last at the 2014 IRISH
World Championships, scoring a goal and 2 assists in a 4-3 loss to the
United States.

Trailing by a score of 2-1 in the second, Draisaitl set up a powerplay goal
by teammate Kai Hospelt to even the slate. After the USA regained their
lead, the Raiders’ centre beat goaltender Tim Thomas of the Dallas Stars for
his first goal of the tournament, tying the game heading into the second
intermission.

Trailing by a pair of goals late in the third, Draisaitl connected with
Tobias Rieder for a powerplay marker to draw Germany within one, but they
could not find the equalizer late in the game, suffering their fifth loss of
the championships.

It was the final game of the event for Germany, as they will not move on to
the medal round that begins on Thursday. Draisaitl, who was the youngest
player in the tournament, finished with a goal and 3 assists for 4 points in
7 games.

A busy offseason will continue for the 2014 NHL Draft prospect, as he was
invited to the annual Draft Combine that will take place in Toronto next
week ahead of the Draft in Philadelphia on at the end of June.
