El Salvador Habitat 2014

For the fourth year in a row, a team of UBC Thunderbirds athletes and administrators are in El Salvador to build a home as part of the Habitat for Humanity Global Village volunteer program. The following is the final note from team leader Bill Humphries.

For previous updates, please visit our main Habitat for Humanity page.

Buenos Dias and greetings from The Las Rojas Resort on the Salvadorian Coast.

The previous blogs have provided a good overview of the team’s experiences over the past 14 days or so, so I will not dwell on that. What I will say however is that, based the feedback I have received from the team, they all have enjoyed another fabulous life experience – like the three teams before them.

I want to take this opportunity to again thank them for their interest and commitment in participating in this program. So thank you Jayne, Greg, Rosie, Nate, Marcus, Danielle, Cara, Sarah, Reid and Tori, for your support over the past two weeks.

Finally, I want to take this opportunity to thank my wife, of 44 years Joan, for her support regarding this initiative, and Jayne Blank for her tremendous efforts with logistics and administration.

And lastly a big thank you to UBC’s Managing Director Ashley Howard, and Susan Grossman, Director of UBC – Community Learning Initiative. I look forward to their support again next year.

Much gracias and adios,
Bill Humphries
