ROSTERS ANNOUNCED FOR CANADA SELECTS VERSUS BC INVITATIONAL MATCH ON SATURDAY AS PART OF BC 125TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
Jamie Cudmore, James Pritchard, Jebb Sinclair, Jeff Hassler and Tyler Ardron among professional players to feature in inter-squad clash on Saturday

May 28,2014(ISN) – LANGFORD, BC – Canada Head Coach Kieran Crowley has announced the rosters for this weekend’s Canada Selects versus BC Invitational Game at Klahanie Park in West Vancouver.

Saturday’s game, which kicks off at 4pm local time (7pm Eastern Time) is part of BC Rugby’s 125th Anniversary celebrations and will be streamed LIVE at www.bcrugby.com. Tickets can also be purchased through BC Rugby’s website or on Saturday at the gate. BC Rugby fans will be in for a real treat, as both sides feature star-studded lineups with the return of Canada’s overseas professionals and top domestic-based players.

BC Invitational will be lead by Jamie Cudmore, Aaron Carpenter, Tyler Hotson, John Moonlight and Andrew Tiedemann in the forwards with Phil Mack, Jeff Hassler and Conor Trainor highlighting the backs. The Canada Selects Team includes Tyler Ardron, Jebb Sinclair, Hubert Buydens, Jason Marshall, Brett Beukeboom in the forward pack and Phil Mackenzie, Taylor Paris and James Pritchard in the backs.

Mike Shelley and Kenny Goodland will coach the BC Invitational Team, while Ben Herring and guest-coach Scott Hansen from New Zealand will run the Canada Selects side. Saturday’s game will be an opportunity for coach Crowley, along with Canada Assistant Coach Neil Barnes and a selection committee, to watch Canada’s best players in a head-to-head competition.

“(Saturday’s Game) is of massive importance to our selection. It will be our only opportunity before a World Cup year to get all our players on the same field,” said Crowley.

“It will be great to see our overseas players playing against domestic-based players. The camp leading into it is a chance to work with the guys and at the end of that, we will be able to see guys in the same position as one another.”

Following the game, the coaching staff and selection committee will meet to discuss the players’ performance and pick a starting roster for next weekend’s International Test match against Japan on June 7 at Swangard Stadium. Saturday’s game in West Vancouver will be refereed by Cnaadian International Chris Assmus, and his Assistant Referees will be Harry Mason and Nathan Abdelnour.

The Japan test is part of the 2014 Pacific Nations Cup, where Canada will also play USA on June 21 in Sacramento, California. Canada will also face Scotland on June 14 at BMO Field in Toronto.
