Just one year from the opening match of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™, fans, soccer clubs and media are invited to take part in One Year To A Greater Goal™ countdown events organised across Canada on Friday 6 June 2014.

Celebrations will take place in five Official Host Cities, starting with the first event at Ottawa City Hall on Friday morning.

At each event, a special FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ One Year To A Greater Goal™ Countdown Clock will be unveiled.

Fans are encouraged to join the conversation via @fifawwc. Fans can look for the hashtags #wwc, #Canada2015 and #GreaterGoal (or #GrandBut in French) supplemented with #OneYear (or #365jours in French).

From Canada’s national teams, Josée Bélanger will be in Montréal, Desiree Scott will be in Winnipeg, and coach John Herdman will be in Vancouver. Members of Canada’s U-20 team will also be in Vancouver on Friday morning.

The National Organising Committee, our staff and partners, are deeply saddened by the tragedy unfolding in Moncton. To ensure the safety of fans and members of the public, the one-year countdown event scheduled at Moncton City Hall is cancelled. Our thoughts are with the great City of Moncton and its residents. We wish a safe and swift resolution to the situation.
