DAY 3 SCORES: TEAM | INDIVIDUAL
As a team, UBC had the best round of the day, recording a 10-over par 226 to bring its three-round total to 33-over 681. The Thunderbirds will take a 21-shot advantage into tomorrow’s final round at the Southwood Golf and Country Club. The Montréal Carabins are second at 54-over while the Toronto Varsity Blues are 58-over. The fourth-place Victoria Vikes are 60-over par. If the Thunderbirds can maintain their lead they will pick up their 10th national championship title at the conclusion of the event.
In the individual competition, UBC’s Kylie Barros is tied with Victoria’s Megan Woodland for the lead at 6-over 222. Barros, from Edmonton, was even on the day. After two birdies and two bogeys on the front nine, Barros parred every hole after the turn.
“We have a great team with four strong players,” Barros said. “We’re feeling confident but we still know we have some work left but ten would be a nice a way to finish my five years at UBC.”
Kat Kennedy is alone in third, moving up two spots thanks to a round of 3-over 75 on Thursday. The first-year golfer birdied holes No. 15 and No. 18.
Winnie Hyun had birdies on No. 16 and 17 to cap off her second straight round of 7-over 79. She’s in a three-way tie for eighth at 18-over 234.
Casara Hong is alone in 18th with a three-round total of 28-over 244. The senior from Calgary finished the day with a result of 9-over 81.
