June 6,2014(ISN) – Canada’s Women’s Fifteens Team opened up their New Zealand Tour with a 22-0 win over Australia.

Jacey Murphy opened the scoring less than 10 minutes into the match after some strong work by the forwards, giving Canada a 5-0 lead at half.

After an Andrea Burk penalty kick extended the Canadian lead to eight points, Murphy scored her second try of the match and the conversion from Magali Harvey made it a 15-0 game.

With Australia unable to put points on the board, Canada added a last minute try courtesy team captain Kelly Russell.

Barrie, ON native Emily Belchos subbed on in the second half, earning her first cap with the Senior Women’s Fifteens Team.

Canada’s next match will be Tuesday, June 10 against the Black Ferns.
